Playa Venao Hotel Guide

In this section, we break down the accommodations in Playa Venao and what you can expect from each.

Explanation of Areas

Playa Venao Area Map

Central:  The center section of the bay with a high density of developments and commercial activity, hosts the majority of events, and also attracts the highest traffic of visitors.

West:  The west end of the bay is home to eco-conscious businesses and the grounds are groomed but still natural. Monkey sightings are frequent at this end of the bay.

East:  The east end of the bay is still barely developed and has a more pristine, ‘raw’ feel.

Playa Venao Hotel Resort

  • In a few words: Luxurious, sophisticated, romantic
  • Popular with: Families, Couples
  • Location: Central            Pool: Yes

Playa Venao Hotel Resort is a little secluded luxury oasis. The hotel’s layout is centered around an infinity pool that looks out into the ocean, wrapped with palm trees and groomed grass. The restaurant is delectable, with a variety of elevated Mediterranean and Panamanian choices. El Sitio

El Sitio

  • In a few words: Fun, chill, social
  • Popular with: Groups, families, young people
  • Location: Central       Pool: Yes

El Sitio originally put Playa Venao on the map with their famous EDM parties (they even have ones with guest DJs, airwaved to Ibiza). Despite this, the hotel remains popular with families and groups due to the overall mellow vibe: people come to the restaurant to grab a drink, meet friends, and chill on the couch. The restaurant is very reliable, with great food & drinks. They’ve scaled their parties down to a few big events per year (including one inspired by Burning Man), but the bar is still a great place to meet people. The rooms, which were formerly containers, vary from $99 (for a basic room, no view) to $195 (suite with balcony). Many of them have a view of the ocean and fast optic cable wifi.

Beach Break Surf Camp

  • In a few words: Athletic, cool, surfer community
  • Popular with: Surfers, singles, travelers, families
  • Location: Central           Pool: Yes, with a shallow platform great for small children

Beach Break is the original surf camp on the beach; their surf guides are expert surfers from all over the world, and many visitors learn how to surf on their first day! In the back is a jiu jitsu dojo with regular clients that include professionals & national-level athletes, to kids who want to build confidence. The beachfront restaurant recently expanded their menu to include healthier options like tacos, along with their excellent thin-crust pizza. Although also popular is the shared kitchen where you may frequently see travelers cooking and sharing meals together! The layout is spacious: a big grassy area in the center with rooms along the sides, somewhat reminiscent of a hostel , but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and attract families and visitors who want a centrally-located space that is quiet and away from crowds. Private rooms (private bathroom) range around $89.
